The Process' rented six-storey townhouse at 2 Balfour Place in London's Mayfair district was its nominal headquarters from 1965 to the end of 1970. Here, a dozen members at a time (sometimes more, sometimes less) lived in often spartan conditions in the middle of one of the world's most expensive neighbourhoods.

However, the basement coffee house and the lower floors that housed a reception area and bookstore as well as the "Progress" room used for training sessions and Telepathy Developing Circles fostered an impression of opulence. The Process was supremely adept at creating and sustaining images in this way, and the appearance of wealth fed the notion of a powerful organisation, even when total membership was scarcely 30 people, and there was no certainty the rent could be paid in any given month.
